What pond creatures will you find?

Pond dipping is one of the most popular activities that I do. There are lots of different creatures that live in freshwater, making it exciting to see what we have caught. I make sure that it is a safe activity for all ages and for preschool children bring the creatures out of the pond and into something that they can safely use smaller nets to catch them again.

It is a great chance to learn about how these creature live in a different way to us, sometimes even sticking their bottoms in to the air to breath! I will provide pond nets, dipping trays and be able to tell you the life stories of the creatures that we catch.

This is a great activity to combine with searching for minibeasts, where you can compare and contrast how these small land creatures live with the ones that we see in the water. You can also make dens or have a campfire to have a great day out with me.
