Create outdoor felt bunting with Freelance Ranger for Aldouran Wetland Garden

Poster for Audouran event with Freelance ranger
You are invited to come along to Aldouran Weland Garden on Friday the 22nd of July to make felt bunting

I am working with them to make them some colourful felt bunting for the Gardens and woodland. We will design and create felt pieces and we will then hang as bunting around the Gardens. There will be two workshops during the day starting at 11am and 2pm.

Photos of the stages of felting are shown below
Felting is an ancient craft and it can be used to turn sheep fleece into fantastic art. Wool fibres have scales and felting locks these together to form a tough and resilient mat. You have to clean and card your wool from the fleece, Then dye it if you want to add colour. Next you need to create your design. Then comes the fun part the friction which will matt the wool fibres together you need to wet your creation with water and soap and use friction to felt it. Rolling, scrunching and throwing are all involved to shrink the wool to make the felt. It takes a bit of time but the end result is worth it.
