Get arty with mud and clay

Mud is great to experiment with with and we all know what faces should look like so this is a great starting point .This a great activity where everyone can get really creative using natural materials. We can leave our tree faces behind at the end of the day for other people to see while we take a mud head back home with us to remind us of our day. Using clay you can do the same types of activities creating and shaping, making thumb bowls, printing laves and creating sculptural forms.

You might like start your day off going on a mud walk and collect your own estuarine mud from Wigtown Bay Local Nature Reserve.

I will bring things like water, towels and wipes to help you clean up after the activity and I have gloves if you have any cuts or need to cover up.
Clay, mud, earth and other natural materials give us so many things that we can create. As a Freelance Ranger I try and incorporate as many of these in my activities as possible.
